Protesters storm Amnesty International office for the third day running
A pressure group, the Global
Peace and Life Rescue Initiative (GOPRI) on Wednesday, March 22,
protested in front of the headquarters of the Amnesty International (AI)
in Abuja.
Yesterday, GOPRI led by its executive director Melvin Ejeh, cooked a lunch of noodles and yam outside the premises of AI.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, March 22, Ejeh said AI must reassess its position in Nigeria.
Ejeh said: "How much of the
claims being made about it are on point? What roles has it played in the
instability plaguing several of the troubled countries in the world and
what are its intentions in Nigeria?
"It
must reassess its standing not just in the eyes of its Nigerian
partners who may not be willing to give it the correct assessment in
order not to loose their inflow of foreign currency that would give them
financial security.''
He advised AI to consider to shutting its activities in Nigeria in the interest of peace in the country.
